Intercession Church

The small Intercession Church was built between 1765 and 1774 on the territory of the former Afansievsky Devichy Convent which was closed down in 1723. It was built using the funds of a local merchant in the standard 'octagon-on-cube' style. In the 1930s the church was closed and used as a store, while its walls and bell tower were demolished. Restoration work was performed in 1987 and in 1992 it was returned to the Orthodox Church.
