Verkhoturye

The Historical City of Verkhoturye is often considered to be the holiest place in the Urals due to the city's revered Nikolaevsky Monastery. The city is also home to the only kremlin in the Urals and its location on the picturesque River Tura make it a perfect tourist destination. However, as with most Historical Cities of Russia, it is not the easiest place to visit. It is possible to get there by bus or suburban train from Nizhny Tagil, although the links are inconvenient and infrequent; alternatively you could get a taxi from there. There are also buses from Yekaterinburg, but this takes over five hours.
