Slobodskoy is relatively small and little known but it is one of the oldest cities in Vyatka lands, which developed due to its location on the River Vyatka and therefore once part of vital trade routes. It is certainly off the beaten tracks but visitors here will be able to see for themselves real provincial Russia, complete with 19th century town-planning.
