Pushkinskie Gory
Pushkinskie Gory translates as Pushkin’s Mountains as this hilly area is closely connected with Russia’s most beloved poet - Aleksandr Pushkin. Just outside the town is the estate of Mikhailovskoe, which was granted to Pushkin’s great-grandfather Abram Gannibal. The estate was later inherited by Pushkin and the poet was exiled here from 1824 to 1826 for his political activities. Along with two other estates here, Mikhailovskoe is now protected as a museum-reserve.
