Tourist routes in Russia
Russia is an enormous country and tourists usually stick to the handful of tourist routes established back during the time of the Soviet Union: Moscow and St Petersburg, the Golden Ring and the Trans-Siberian Railway. However a country as big as Russia of course has much more to offer and there is potential for more tourist routes to develop based on various themes (ecological, historical, military, literary, etc). With good transport links there are also many opportunities for day trips or weekend trips from many Russian cities.
