Afanasi Nikitin Monument
Afanasi Nikitin was a 15th century traveller from Tver who travelled around the Caucasus, Persia, and India. This statue of him was unveiled on the left-bank of the Volga in 1955 and has since become one of the symbols of Tver. It includes a four metre bronze statue of the traveller standing on a granite pedestal and a base decorated with boats. The monument is also a favourite posing place for newlyweds.
