Around halfway down Ulitsa Sovetskaya is Ploschad Lenina (Lenin Square) and unsurprisingly there is a statue of Vladimir Lenin here. There has been a statue of Lenin here since 1926 but the original statue was destroyed during the Nazi Occupation of Tver and only restored in 1959. The present statue is made out of bronze stands on a granite pedestal which incorporates a viewing platform.
