Located in the gardens of Tverskaya Ploschad (Tver Square) is a monument to Mikhail Saltykov-Schedrin. Mikhail Saltykov-Schedrin was a famous author and satirist who was born in the Tver Governorate in 1826 and also briefly served as vice-governor of Tver. The bronze statue, depicting the satirist late in his life, was unveiled in 1976 and is the work of the renowned sculptor Oleg Komov.
