Just in front of the Transfiguration of the Saviour Cathedral is an interesting monument dedicated to the people of Tambov who lost their lives during the Second World War. It was established in 1970 and consists of a massive concrete ring with an eternal flame located inside. The inner side of the ring is decorated with engravings of the faces of soldiers, partisans and ordinary citizens as well as commemorative inscriptions.
