Kaluzhskaya Ploschad (Kaluga Square) is dominated by both the Soviet-style headquarters of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the bronze statue of Vladimir Lenin. The monument was unveiled in 1985, making it one of the last Lenin statues to be erected in the country, and is the work of the sculptor Lev Kerbel. It depicts Lenin on a pedestal with his coat blowing in the wind. The base of the pedestal is decorated with sculptures of revolutionaries flying banners.
