Around the Beginning of Ulitsa Bolshaya Nikitskaya
Pyotr Tchaikovsky Moscow State Conservatory and Pyotr Tchaikovsky Monument
The Moscow State Conservatory was established by Nikolai Rubinstein in 1866 and has been located in this specially-converted mansion since 1901. It is the second oldest higher musical education establishment in Russia after the St Petersburg Conservatory. Performances can be viewed at one of the conservatory's three halls: the grand hall, the small hall or the Rakhmaninov hall. Outside the conservatory is a monument to its namesake - Pyotr Tchaikovsky, one of Russia's and the world's most famous composers.
