Hidden away in the block of buildings on what was once known as Sheremetev Courtyard after its owner is the beautiful Our Lady of the Sign Church.  The church dates from the late 17th century and was built on the orders of Lev Naryshkin in the style which became known as Naryshkin baroque, recognisable by its intricate decorations.  In 1929 the church was closed and given over for use by the KGB.  It was reopened in 2008 after undergoing restoration work.
