Muslim Magomaev Monument
Standing on the corner of Voznesensky Pereulok and Yeliseevsky Pereulok is a statue of the Soviet/Azeri opera and pop singer Muslim Magomaev, who was especially popular throughout the Soviet Union in the 1960s and 1970s. Magomaev was born in Baku (now the capital of independent Azerbaijan) in 1942 and died in Moscow in 2008. This statue of him was funded by the Azeri-run Crocus-International construction company and unveiled in 2011 close to the Azerbaijani embassy.
