Around Vystavochnaya Metro Station
Moscow City
Moscow-City, or the Moscow International Business Centre to give it its proper name, is one of the most ambitious construction projects in Russia. The idea to create a business district in central Moscow, combining living space and entertainment areas, was first developed in 1992. Work on the first skyscraper - Tower 2000 - started in 1996 and was completed in 2001. This was then followed by the completion of several more towers and more still are under construction. Several other projects however were suspended or cancelled outright in the wake of the global financial crisis, including the original Russia Tower project by Norman Foster and the plan to move the State Duma here. Now the tallest of the towers being built is Federation Tower which is due to be completed in 2014 and is set become the tallest building in Europe.
Russian Dolls at Afi Mall
Located within Moscow City is the massive Afi Mall Citi shopping centre which was opened in 2011 and comprises a trade and entertainment centre. In addition to the shops and restaurants, the shopping centre also features an ice rink, galleries and parks. However the biggest attraction, quite literally, are the gigantic Russian dolls which decorate the centre's sixth floor. The centre can be entered straight from Vystavochnaya metro station.
