Moscow Planetarium
The Moscow Planetarium was originally opened in 1929 becoming only the 13th planetarium in the world. In 1977 the planetarium's equipment was upgraded, but by 1994 it had closed. After years of arguments over ownership and reconstruction plans, the planetarium was only reopened in 2011. The main show of the night sky takes place in the Large Star Hall using state of the art equipment, while the Small Star Hall creates the effect on a smaller-scale with a domed-screen. Before attending a séance in the Large Star Hall you can visit the Uranus Museum which is included in the price. The museum details the development of space exploration and the heavenly bodies themselves. The planetarium also comprises the Lunarium interactive museum, an observatory, an exhibition hall, a 4D cinema and a cafe. It is best to book tickets ahead to avoid disappointment, especially on evenings. Tickets can be bought online on the planetarium's website, up to a month in advance.
