On the northern side of the Patriarch Pond is a monument to Russia's foremost fabulist - Ivan Krylov.  The monument was unveiled in 1976 and consists of several parts.  Firstly there is a statue of Krylov sitting down and then there are smaller monuments depicting scenes from his fable including an elephant, crow, fox, wolf and lamb.
