The Bolshoi Moscow State Circus on Prospekt Vernadskogo is so named to distinguish it from the second Moscow State Circus building on Tsvetnoy Bulvar which is known as the Nikulin Circus.  The Bolshoi Circus was opened in 1971 and can seat up to 3,400 people in its amphitheatre which is reminiscent of a tradition big top tent.
