Situated between the Third Ring Road and the railway lines is the bright red and white Our Lady of the Sign Church, which is located in the area historically known as the Pereyaslavskaya Sloboda. The church was built between 1757 and 1766 in the baroque style, replacing an earlier wooden church. It was subsequently extended in 1888. The church was never closed during the Soviet period and many icons for other churches were transferred here. In 1997 a baptismal church in a similar style was built next door.
