Former Novo-Alekseevsky Convent

Straddling both sides of the Third Ring Road is a church ensemble which once was part of the Novo-Alekseevsky Convent. The original Alekseevsky Convent was founded in 1360 by Metropolitan Alexius where the Zachatievsky Convent now stands. The convert was moved to where the Christ the Saviour Cathedral stands today in the 16th century and then in 1837 it was once more moved to Krasnoe Selo next to the 17th century Exaltation of the Cross Church. Upon this final move it was renamed the Novo-Alekseevsky Convent, meaning the New Convent of St Alexius.

In 1926 the convent was closed and in the 1930s the Exaltation of Cross Church was destroyed. Two of the convent's churches have survived to this day: St Alexius Man of God's Church which was built between 1853 and 1859 and is now located outside the Third Ring Road and the All Saints Church which was built between 1887 and 1891 and is now situated inside the ring road in what is now known as Vsesvyatsky Park (All Saints Park). Both churches were reopened in 1991
