The Museum of Private Collections was established in 1994 and it has been located in its present location in a specially-renovated mansion since 2005. The museum contains two floors of artwork all of which has been donated by private collectors of art. The collections have not been broken up and are displayed at the museum intact. The museum is run as a department of the Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts.
