A few metres up Gogolevsky Bulvard is a wonderful monument to the author Mikhail Sholokhov, who is best known for his work 'And Quiet Flows the Don'. The monument was unveiled in 2007 and its centrepiece features a sculpture of the author sat in a boat which itself stands on a pedestal. However the best part of the sculpture is the waterfall feature behind it. The waterfall represents a river and just sticking out of the ground are the heads of many horses and one foal as if they are swimming across.
