Located at the beginning of Ulitsa Radio which can be reached from Ulitsa Staraya Basmannaya by walking down Tokmakov Pereulok is the Ascension Church in Gorokhovo Pole. The church was built between 1788 and 1793 in the classical style according to the plan by the famous architect Matvey Kazakov. During the Soviet years the church was closed and for a time it was used as an exhibition hall. It has since been returned to the Orthodox Church.
