Ivan Shishkin House-Museum
In 1938 the house where the famous Russian painter Ivan Shishkin spent his childhood was turned into the Ivan Shishkin House-Museum, which now receives over 50,000 visitors a year. Shishkin's father, also Ivan, was a merchant in the city and the museum has preserved the interior of a typical 19th century merchant house. The second floor of the museum exhibits some of the artist's work. The museum is run as part of the Yelabuga State Historical, Architectural and Art Museum-Reserve.
