Located at the foot of Sobornaya Gora is a monument to Mikhail Kutozov, which was unveiled in 1954 and depicts the Russian general during the Napoleonic War in full height standing on a pink granite pedestal. For his achievements during the war against Napoleon, Kutozov was named general-field marshal and Prince ('Knyaz') of Smolensk.
