Located on Komsomolskaya Ploschad (Komsomol Square) is a monument to Hero-Komsomols - members of the youth division of the Communist Party who died in the Second World War. The monument was unveiled in 1972 and is unsurprising Soviet in style. It depicts two komsomols - one of them holding aloft a banner whilst supporting his comrade who is falling with a rifle in his hand.
