Standing on Proletarskaya Hill is a statue of the author and poet Ivan Bunin who lived in Oryol for several years and began his literary career here working for a local newspaper. In 1933 he was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature. This monument depicts Bunin at full height and was unveiled in 1995. It is the work of the renowned Russian sculptor Vyacheslav Klykov.
