Our Lady of Iveron Church
The first stones of the beautiful Our Lady of Iveron Church were laid in 1899 to commemorate the coronation of Emperor Nicholas II. Its main altar was consecrated in 1902 and its side altars in 1903 and 1907 with Emperor Nicholas II himself donating money to complete the construction. The church is built in the Russian-style and its main structure is topped with nine domes on three levels, attached to the front is a small bell tower. In 1923 the church was closed and was subsequently heavily damaged in the Second World War. In 1990 the partially ruined building as returned to the Orthodox Church and restored. It was eventually reopened for worship in 1993.
