St Tikhon of Zadonsk’s Church was opened in 1907 as a place of worship for the local prison. The church was closed by the Bolsheviks shortly afterwards in the 1920s and used as a store while the prison became housing. In 1989 the church was returned to the Church and re-consecrated.
