Located on Ploschad Stary Torg (Old Trade Square) is the city's monument to Vladimir Lenin. In this statue Lenin is depicted defiantly pointing ahead but is somewhat dwarfed by the massive Soviet-style Kaluga Region Administration Building behind him. Opposite Lenin are the city's famous trading rows - a calling card of the city, but currently undergoing extensive restoration work.
