Regional Museum of the Kaluga Region

The Regional Museum of the Kaluga Region was established in 1897 and since 1992 it has been located in what was once the city estate of the Zolotarev family. The estate dates from the early 19th century and includes a mansion, a large courtyard and several auxiliary buildings. The museum now has exhibitions on the history of Kaluga Lands, starting with ancient history up to the Russian Revolution and the Second World War. It also has displays on the nature of the Kaluga Region including stuffed animals in mock-ups of their natural surroundings.
