Arkadi Severny was a Soviet bard who was born in Ivanovo in 1939. Severny became famous in the 1960s for his songs which were often of a dissident and underground nature inspired by prison songs. Often his songs escaped the Soviet censor and home-made recordings were passed around person to person. This unusual monument to him was unveiled in 2010 and depicts him sat at a desk smoking a cigarette.
