Standing just off Ploschad Pushkina (Pushkin Square) is the Trinity Church. It was built between 2000 and 2007 as a copy of the Trinity Church which stands in the Troitse-Sergieva Lavra in Sergiev Posad. Previously the Pokrovsky Monastery stood here until it was closed in 1764. After this a new stone Trinity Church was built and consecrated in 1819. This church stood here up until 1931 when it was destroyed by the Soviets.
