Apanay (Apanaevskaya) Mosque
The Apanay Mosque was built between 1768 and 1771 just after the Al-Märcani Mosque. It bears the name of the merchant Apanaev who donated money for its construction, but it is also referred to as the Second Congressional Mosque. The yellow and green mosque was built in the baroque style. It was closed in 1930 and its minaret was demolished. It was later used as a pre-school. The Apanay Mosque was reopened in 1995 and underwent restoration work which saw its minaret rebuilt.
