In 2001 the apartment where the composer Näcip Cihanov (also transliterated as Nazib Zhiganov) lived for 18 years of his life was turned into the Näcip Cihanov Apartment-Museum. From 1945 to 1988 Cihanov served as rector of the Kazan Conservatory, which is now named in his honour. The apartment-museum features the original furniture and has on display many original items and documents of the composer.
