Ascension Cathedral and Resurrection Church

Situated at the intersection of Ulitsa Voznesenskaya and Tsargradsky Prospekt is a church complex consisting of the Ascension Cathedral, the Resurrection Church and some other buildings. The Ascension Cathedral was built in 1756 as a two-storey building with an octagon-on-cube structure.  The built-on bell tower dates from 2009 as the original was destroyed during the Soviet period when the church was closed from 1937 to 1995.

Just next to the cathedral is the Resurrection Church.  The church was built in the late 1980s and has a wooden second storey and green domes.  It also incorporates a bell tower.
