Penza's main war memorial is located on Victory Square on Prospekt Pobedy (Victory Prospect). The monument depicts a soldier next to a woman holding up a young child who in turn is holding aloft a branch. Also included in the memorial is an eternal flame. Further on along Prospekt Pobedy is a monument with a MiG plane taking off and a monument to Penza’s soldiers who fell in the Chechen War which takes the form of an unravelling star.
