Volgograd’s art gallery was founded in 1960 and today displays many Russian, Soviet and foreign works ranging from the 18th century to the beginning of the 20th century, including both portraits and landscapes. The museum also has a large collection of the work of artist Ilya Mashkov who was born in what is today the Volgograd Region. The museum also holds various temporary exhibitions.
