Moskovsky Railway Station

Moskovsky Railway Station is located in the centre of St Petersburg on the cross roads of two of its main streets - Nevsky Prospekt and Ligovsky Prospekt - and is the main railway station which connects Russia's two principle cities - Moscow and St Petersburg. The closest metro to Moskovsky Railway Station is Ploschad Vosstania which is on the red line (line No. 1). Located 300 metres away is metro Mayakovskaya on the green line (line No.3).

The construction of the railway station was completed in 1851 under the project of Konstantin Ton, the architect behind the Christ the Saviour Cathedral and the Kremlin Grand Palace in Moscow.   St Petersburg's Moskovsky Railway Station is a mirror-image of Moscow's Leningradsky Railway Station, which was built around the same time.  Inside the station is a bust of Peter the Great.
