Ivan Nikitin was a 19th century Russian poet who was born and died in Voronezh. This monument to him was unveiled in 1911 on the 50th anniversary of his death. The square on which the monument stands was later renamed Ploschad Nikitina (Nikitin Square) in his honour. The monument depicts the poet sat down and reflecting with books at his feet on a granite pedestal.
