Andrey Platonov was a Soviet writer and playwright who was born in Voronezh. This monument was unveiled in his hometown in 1999 on the 100th anniversary of his birth. It depicts Platonov walking along with his hands in his raincoat's pockets. One side of the plinth has an inscription has his name, while the other has the words "…Without me the people are incomplete.." lines spoken by one of his characters.
