On the very edge of the city on the banks of the River Osyotr is a small complex known as the Bely Kamen (White Stone) Holy Spring. Legend has it that the spring was started in 1225 at the very site where the Icon of St Nicholas was presented to the city. Over the spring is the tiny wooden St Nicholas’ Chapel.
