Ivankovo Reservoir and Moscow Canal

Lock No. 1 of the Moscow Canal (May 2010)

Dubna's western border is formed by the Ivankovo Reservoir - a vast water body which was formed by flooding several settlements including the city of Korcheva. The Ivankovo Hydro-Electric Dam forms a bridge from the Levy Bereg side to an island in the Volga. The Moscow Canal (previously known as the Volga-Moscow Canal) starts here and nearby is Lock No. 1, where the canal branches off from the Volga to connect it to the Moscow River.  It also forms the bridge across the Moscow Canal to the Bolshaya Volga side.  Once on the Bolshaya Volga side you can follow the course of the canal around and see the Lenin monument from the other side.
