The Joint Institute of Nuclear Research (JINR) occupies a lot of territory of Dubna. It was established in 1956 and is now a major international research centre for various branches of nuclear science. Its Headquarters, known as the House of Scientists, is a rather colourful and grand building.

There is also a very small free museum near to the Headquarters of the JINR. The museum has just one hall which displays various examples of scientific instruments as well as photos and other materials.
