Ascension Church

Located in the area historically known as Kazatskaya Sloboda (Cossack's Settlement) is the pretty Ascension Church. It was built in the classical style between 1887 and 1888 and was the dominate feature of the settlement. The main part of the church has five domes standing on octagonal tholobates. The front of the church comprises a four-tier bell tower and a pediment supported by columns. The church was closed in 1940 but shortly afterwards reopened and then remained open.
