Aleskandr Pushkin Monument (February 2011)

Like many Russian cities, Kursk has a statue of Aleksandr Pushkin, Russia's most celebrated poet. It was unveiled in 2000 as part of the bicentenary celebrations of the poet and stands outside the Kursk Drama Theatre which is named after Aleksandr Pushkin. The theatre's building dates from 1983 and features a statue of Nike, the Greek goddess of victory, on the top.
