In the sqaure outside the railway station is a statue of Iosif Apanasenko who held the rank of Army-General during the Second World War. In the first years of the war Apanasenko commanded the army on the Far-Eastern Front, but was transferred at his request to serve as deputy commander on the Voronezh Front. However in less than two months of his transfer Apanasenko was killed in an enemy air raid. This monument to him was unveiled in 1949 and depicts the army-general in full military uniform.
