Volzhskaya (Arsenalnaya) Tower

The Volzhskaya Tower is one of the two towers which represent all that is left of Yaroslavl's 17th century fortification walls which once surrounded the whole historical centre. The tower was built between 1658 and 1669 near to the bank of the River Volga after which it is named. However it is also known as the Arsenalnaya Tower as from the mid-19th century the tower was used as an arsenal.
