Getting to/from Raifa
Raifa is located about 30km from the centre of Kazan and has no railway station or bus station. The only way to get to the Raifsky Bogoroditsky Monastery using public transport is to take a bus from Kazan. It is a 5km walk from the Kazan-Zelenodolsk highway to the monastery, although some buses do stop right outside the monastery.
There are three ways to get to Raifa from Kazan by bus. All buses run from the same location in Kazan - the bus stop just opposite TsUM (ЦУМ) in the centre of Kazan. Bus No. 404 to Kulbashi (Кульбаши) and Bus No. 406 to Bishnya (Бишня) go through Raifa and stop outside the monastery. There are between 4 and 7 of such buses a day in both directions. In addition the Kazan - Zelenodolsk (Зеленодольск) bus stops next to the turn on the Kazan-Zelenodolsk highway into Raifa. If you get off here you will then need to walk another 5km or hitch a ride to the monastery. This bus runs around every 25 minutes. All buses take about 1 hour to get to Raifa from Kazan
