Mikhail Bulgakov and his wife settled in apartment 50 of 10 Ulitsa Bolshaya Sadovaya in 1921 when they moved to Moscow and they lived here until 1924. The apartment also features in Bulgakov's most famous novel 'The Master and Margarita' as the "sinister apartment" where the Devil chose to stay and hold his ball. In the 1930s Triumphalnaya Ploschad (Triumphal Square) was renamed Mayakovskaya Ploschad (Mayakovsky Square) and this statue of Vladimir Mayakovsky was installed here in 1958. Bell Tower of St Nicholas' Church in Novaya Sloboda

  The Our Lady of Tikhvin Church in Suschyovo dates from 1710 and was extended with the construction of a bell tower in 1831. The first mention of the Vysoko-Petrovsky Monastery came in 1377 and it is traditionally considered to have been founded by Metropolitan Peter, who moved to Moscow in 1325 and died in 1326. Moscow is considered to have been founded by Prince Yuri Dolgoruky in 1147.
