Aleksandr Popov Central Museum of Communications

  The Aleksandr Popov Central Museum of Communications was opened in 1872 and is one the oldest scientific and technical museums in the world.  The museum is housed in an 18th century palace built for statesman Prince Aleksandr Bezborodov.  It was named in honour of Aleksandr Popov, one of the scientists credited with the invention of the radio in 1945.  The museum has several halls dedicated to the history of the development of the postal service, telegraphy, radio, television and satellite communication.
